ASTA Onam 2015 Another Onam celebration by ASTA with fun, games, dance, music and feasting at HOME OF FAITH, Kakkanad. Hi all, ASTA celebrated Onam , 2015 with special children at Home Of Faith, Kakkanad. What an amazing day for the inmates of the home, ASTA members and faculty of St Teresas College!!! The programme was inaugurated by Sr Vineetha, Director, St Teresas College by lighting the lamp. The Principal, Dr Sajimol also graced the occasion. The ‘Pookkalam’ created by Soya and team was lovely. One of the inmates dressed as ‘Maveli’ made a royal entry before commencing the variety entertainment. The performance by children disregarding their disability was stunning. The dance by Sandhya, an inmate with an artificial leg took our breath away and reminded us of the famous Sudha Chandran. Even kids who were incapable of standing upright, joined the fun and frolic to the best of their ability. All the inmates participated in the games and were thrilled to receive the gifts sponsored by Ms Suma Ravindran. Ms Luna who compered the event did a wonderful job by blending with the children and coordinating the programme seamlessly. The fantastic ‘Thiruvathirakali’ by Ms Valery and team and beautiful group song by Ms Mridula and team added spice to the event. The revelry of the entertainment programme was followed by a delicious ‘Onam Sadya’. Later some of the kids participated in ‘Uri Adi’ which they enjoyed thoroughly. ASTA also provided some materials for the daily needs like groceries, toiletries etc worth Rs 5000 to the home. We left the Home of Faith with a heart filled with contentment and joy of giving a memorable day to the inmates with different degrees of physical and mental disability. The greatest reward was seeing the smile of happiness on the faces of children. An unforgettable day in our lives too!!!! The selfless service of Mother Maxi and her team of nuns who take care of these children, is beyond words. Hats off to all ASTA members who toiled a lot for the successful organisation of the event. Regards Mary Carmel Committee Member.
